| Author Paul K. Moore is a native Western New Yorker who spent much of his childhood growing up in the Buffalo suburb of Clarence Center. There, he experienced first hand the power and beauty of the region's legendary lake-effect snowstorms and this helped fuel his longtime fascination with the weather. |

Mr. Moore graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology from the State University of New York (SUNY) College at Oswego in 1985, and went on to receive a Master's degree in atmospheric science from SUNY's University at Albany in 1988. His Master's thesis research involved the first in-depth study of cloud-to-ground lightning in lake-effect rain and snowstorms.
